The little things.

I don't know why, but recently I've become fascinated with whales, and other seafaring mammals. Whales especially though. Whales are the biggest living thing on the planet. Ok well not really, because techically the great barrier reef is alive, as well as kelp and stuff. But other than that, whales take the cake. So there are these huge animals just swimming around the oceans of this planet of ours completely oblivious to cell phones and cars and taffy. They just exist and are huge.
This just blows my mind. I think I'm regressing intellectually. I'm starting to think like a 5 year old. It's not advanced moral philosophies or meta physics that interest me. It's things like whales and bears and water.

Anyway, that's my introspection for the day. And now a song: *Listens to Ben Folds's 'Landed'*

Still not as good as his other stuff.

This is about 40 minutes later. I still haven't posted this. I'm reading a Peter Singer essay. It's compelling.

I'm going to post this now.

Works like a charm...

So last night was Ashely's last day at commerical mail. Chuck is the new guy. Chuck is very slow. He's getting better but, the end of the month started yesterday, and we are going to get slammed. Chuck's slowness will be detrimental to me getting out of work before 9.

Yesterday was also my first day of encoding at work. Encoding is manually typing out the addresses on the envelopes that the big machine can't read. It requires precision and speed. Everyone that knows me, knows that I am the best typist in the world, so this job will present little to no problem for me. Oh, but seriously I suck so much at typing.

I'm going to make a mixed cd to take with me to work today. It will not contain any Guster. I'm a little Gustered out right now. It might have a couple of Songs for Silverman tracks... I'm not sure. Ok I'm out.

I saw Guster and the Zambonis

I went to see Guster on Sunday. They played at a place called Bradley Un-Iveristy. It's in Peoria. It's right off of main street. On the the way there we passed 3 gay bars, all within 2 blocks.

I went with Pete and Steve and Steve's girlfriend Liz, and their friend Kevie (sp?). Kevie's a pilot and plays soccer. She came to the concert to see one of the opening bands; Carbon Leaf.

The other opening band was this band called the Zambonis. I liked the Zambonis. They played songs about hockey. I'm ok with hockey. I played a lot of hockey on my sega back in the day. I talked to the guys from the Zambonis after the show. Two of them (Steve and Mat) are from St. Louis. Dave isn't, but he's really cool. He produced a couple of Guster songs on this Christmas album that they did. (Irony: 3/4 of the current Gusters are Jewish. Joe the Gentile, joined after the Christmas album thing. Everybody loves Christmas.) Dave and I talked about They Might Be Giants. He's met John Linnell.

Peoria is weird. I'll tell you about it some time.

It's raining outside...

It's storming pretty good (well?) outside. I love storms. I can't help but smile when I walk out into them.

I've been posting comments on my friend Jonathan's friends' blogs. I like reading blogs. Especially the blogs of people I know, or sort of know. It's character development. I have these little bio's of all the people I know, or am aware of, in my head. Reading people's blogs add more information and allow me to gain a clearer understanding of who that person is. It's kind of cool.

My cat is strangely calm right now. I thnk she likes the storm too.

I'm going to sleep.

Sometimes When I'm Bored...

Sometimes when I'm bored I go to the library and look at books about Halloween. I love Halloween. I love lamp.

Also whales are disgusting creatures. Not all of them, but Gray Whales. Damn. They've got these parasites all over them...*shudder*. I was reading this book that showed close up pictures of the parasites. It was disgusting. I guess it's not really the whales's fault that they are so attractive to parasites, and they can't really clean themselves... but damn. I mean they could pay some fish to do it. I mea, that's just nasty.

Peer Pressure

So, a lot of my friends have blogs. I read them from time to time. They're kind of cool. The blogs, not my friends. Well my friends are pretty cool too. I'm pretty sure my blog name is pretty pretentious, and I'm pretty sure I misspelled "pretentious" and "misspelled". So this is my first post. Maybe I'll post more, if I remember. I'm pretty forgetful.

Hey, I should have something exciting in my first ever blog entry:

Ok, so today I was at work and this dude came in, and he was all like "Give me all your stamps or I will kill you in the nads!" And I was like "I don't have any stamps. Ass!", but I was doing this slow motion dive when I said that, it was super cool. I think the guy died of lung cancer. It was really sad. His wife was really sad. I gave her some stamps to put in the guys casket. We really did have stamps. I work at Commercial Mail Service. We have a bunch of stamps.
